The Swiss musician Luca Marty born 1991 in Zurich Switzerland started studying classical- and electric guitar in his early youth. Since then his main interest lies in performing and researching music for guitar and lute instruments.

After the precollege at the conservatory of music in Winterthur Switzerland under the guidance of Jury Clormann, Luca Marty begann his Bachelor of Arts in Music at the conservatory of Lucerne where he studied in the guitar class of Mats Scheidegger. Having studied privately with Mats Scheidegger before, invoked in Luca Marty a strong interest in contemporary music. After finishing his bachelor degree he completed two Master degrees, one of them specialized in the interpretation of contemporary music. A further intrerest developed during his bachelor degree was the field of music composition which led him to do a minor in composition under the guidance of Dieter Ammann.

2018 Luca Marty participated in the darmstädter Ferienkurse für neue Musik as part of Yaron Deutsch's guitar studio, receiving further guidance on the electric guitar. In the summer of 2019 Luca Marty gave his debut as soloist at the Lucerne Festival playing the composition guitar control by Thomas Kessler for a concert dedicated to the composers control series.

Luca Marty worked with composers such as Dieter Ammann, Pierluigi Billone, Simon Steen Andersen, Thomas Kessler, Daniel Weissberg, Yulan Yu, Lukas Stamm, Jonas Arnet und Peter Ablinger. Performing multiple premieres in Europe and Japan.

Luca Marty is currently living in  Zürich Switzerland focusing on the research and performance of contemporary music for guitar and electric-guitar.

Next to his work as a performing artist he is also teaching and giving lecture recitals on contemporary music.

On an endless journey of trying to find authentic ways of performing old and new music he is also involved in historical performance practice on period instruments.
